The Visionaries Behind BeAfrica Luxury

We are Barkue Tubman Zawolo and Karton Zawolo, partners in life, in business, and in vision. Together, we’re raising triplets and building what we wish existed: a one-stop, elevated way to experience Africa, our way.

BeAfrica Luxury began with a simple truth we both live by: if you see a gap, fix it. That moment arrived over 11 years ago, when Barkue was planning our wedding. Living in Liberia and dreaming of celebrating in another part of Africa, she searched for a seamless, one-stop guide to premium destinations, venues, and experiences — and it didn’t exist. We married in the Dominican Republic instead, but the vision was born then, at the very start of our marriage, and it has been with us ever since.

An entrepreneur and a fixer, Barkue set out to create what was missing. Karton, an Art lover, a Tech mind, and a relentless nurturer of good ideas believes in the power of platforms as gateways to scale industries, connect communities, and bring efficiency to bold ideas. Together, we’ve been shaping, curating, and growing that spark for more than a decade into a living, breathing community.

Our journey has stretched across continents and seasons launching ventures, designing spaces, and raising three little muses, and through it all, one constant remains: Our belief that Africa is not just an influence; Africa is the source. Be Africa Luxury is our love letter to the continent’s creativity and spirit, a place where heritage and innovation meet, and where global luxury makes room for Africa’s many voices.

We built this platform to be intentional: a bridge between exceptional African talent and the world; a community where the diaspora connects, collaborates, and is seen; a home for stories, Artistry, Fashion, Travel, and design that feel as elevated as they are authentic. It’s Africa to the World,  and it’s personal.
